Guasha
What is Gua Sha?
Gua Sha is a traditional soft tissue therapy that uses a smooth-edged tool to apply targeted pressure across the skin and underlying tissues. When used for musculoskeletal tension, pressure can range from moderate to firm depending on the area being treated and individual needs.
It helps release muscle tension, improve circulation, and support healthy movement of the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding your muscles).
Benefits of Gua Sha:
-
Relieves muscle tightness and stiffness
-
Supports recovery and circulation
-
Improves mobility and flexibility
-
Helps reduce physical stress and promotes relaxation
Some temporary redness or marks may appear after treatment as your body responds to the increased circulation. This is a normal part of the process and usually fades within a few days.
Gua Sha is an effective treatment that can be used on its own or alongside cupping therapy to help you move and feel better.
If you are interested in giving this therapy a try book in for a cupping session - Pauline will combine the two to help you feel loose and limber!

ACC Acupuncture
If you have an ACC injury you can use acupuncture as part of your rehab.
Injuries can be registered with ACC by seeing a doctor, physiotherapist, osteopath, chiropractor and a few other treatment specialists.
Once you have your ACC number (called an ACC45 or claim number) you can use any ACC registered therapy.
How many treatments can I have?
When your injury claim is accepted by ACC, you are typically entitled to up to 12 funded treatments within a 12-week period. The exact number and frequency of treatments will be determined by your practitioner. This is based on your individual needs.
If your injury is more complex, or your recovery is taking longer than expected due to additional factors, your practitioner can apply to ACC using a ACC32 for approval of further funded treatment. Please note there is an additional fee to process this.
Can I be treated for other health concerns during my ACC appointment?
Unfortunately, we cannot treat any other injuries or health concerns during the same session. ACC-funded appointments are for the approved injury only.
If you would like acupuncture for a different condition, please speak with us about booking a separate private appointment.
